A Live Dialogue on Justice, Accountability & Democratic Stability

Panama has experienced growing civic unrest in recent years, driven by concerns around corruption, institutional accountability, judicial independence, and public trust in democratic processes. Protests, legal disputes, and political polarization have raised urgent questions about how justice and democracy can be strengthened peacefully.
This live dialogue is part of Pledge4Peace’s “Panama – A Path to Justice, Democracy & Peace” campaign and is designed as a peaceful, non-partisan, and moderated discussion.
This is a structured, moderated dialogue where differing viewpoints are explored respectfully.
Pledge4Peace acts as a neutral mediator. The goal is to examine democratic challenges and peaceful pathways forward through dialogue.
This dialogue will feature two speakers, each representing a distinct perspective:
• One speaker representing a Panamanian civil society or citizen perspective
• One speaker representing a legal, judicial, or governance-focused perspective
Each participant is free to hold and defend their position, provided it remains nonviolent, respectful, and grounded in dialogue.
This event follows a designed format to prioritize clarity, fairness, and human dignity:
• Opening statements from each participant
• Moderated exchanges focused on key justice and governance questions
• Time-balanced rebuttals and responses
• Audience participation through live voting
• Closing reflections focused on peaceful, democratic pathways forward
When justice systems lose public trust, social stability weakens.
Concerns around accountability, corruption, and democratic integrity affect:
• Public confidence in institutions
• Economic stability and investment
• Social cohesion and civic participation
• The safety of journalists, activists, and whistleblowers
This conversation is about more than Panama. It reflects a global challenge: how democracies respond when citizens demand transparency, fairness, and accountability without violence.
After the dialogue, participants and attendees are encouraged (but not required) to:
• Vote on peaceful, justice-centered solutions
• Add their own proposals for democratic reform
